The Newburgh Museum’s featured exhibit, Shall We Gather At The River, will open on February 3 and run until July. The centerpiece of the exhibit will be a 5′ map of Newburgh’s riverfront during the late 1800s highlighting the numerous businesses in operation at that time.
Also on display are photos from the 1913 and 1937 floods, construction of the dams, and information, stories and pictures of the many types of rivercraft from ferries to showboats that made Newburgh a regular port of call.
The museum is located on State Street in Preservation Hall and is open on Friday and Saturday 11-3:00 or by calling 812-853-5045 for group tours. They invite you to visit and learn more about Newburgh’s history and her river connections.
