Sign 3:  Newburgh Ferry Co. – 1910

John Sprinkle, Newburgh’s founder, established a ferry boat service across the Ohio River in 1830.  Through the years, a number of ferry boat companies were formed, including the Newburgh Ferry Co. illustrated here in a photo from the early 1900s.  The completion of the Ohio River Bridge in Evansville in 1932 made ferry boat operations obsolete.
