Sign 7: Newburgh Tobacco Co. – 1937
This building was constructed prior to 1852 and through the years has served as an Odd Fellows Lodge, flour mill, furniture factory, electricity generating plant and a tobacco company from 1908 to the late 1930s. One of its major products was “the Big Stick Twist, the tobacco that put Newburgh on the map”. In recent years after a tasteful restoration, it has served as a residence with long-term rental units.
